Interview #1, Dr. Takashi Manago, a 101 year old 100th Infantry Battalion (Separate) veteran. Heʻs just one of 6 remaining 100th veterans and he gave a great interview with his daughter Bev. During WW2 he was a “Liter Bearer” — a soldier who ran around under the cover of night, picking up the wounded on the Gothic Line, the final battle in Italy.

Dr. Manago can be seen all over town, appearing where ever a 100th vet is needed to appear. His dance card is full and he always pumps up with a great performance. And he does it all with a twinkle in his eye and a Shaka in his hand.

Taka Manago Gets Shaka PlateAnd even before we started, he gave us commemorative “Go For Broke” license plate holders, which were very appropriate given our Shaka License Plate Program. Following our interview, he even went out and got Shaka License Plates for his daughter and son-in-lawsʻ cars.
